For this little guy’s 7-month milestone session, The Pod Photography’s Silverlake team brought that nostalgic charm to life with a custom picnic set, lake backdrop, and all the festive little details that make summer memories so sweet. It was a nod to the Midwest, owing to mom’s Minnesota-roots, and a celebration of family memories during a milestone moment.
Our star of the day showed up ready for the barbecue of baby dreams! He wore tropical swim trunks and a backwards cap and snacked on watermelon. The setup was complete with miniature burgers on the grill, corn on the cob, and even a round of baby beer pong in progress. It was fearless and fun, and also, completely unique to this family’s story.

Why 7 Months Is the Perfect Milestone to Capture
There are newborn sessions and one year cake smash sessions, but did you know that seven months is a golden age for photos? This is when babies are sitting up strong and proud, their personalities are bursting through, and they love to interact with the world around them. There is still that irresistible baby softness but now paired with giggles and curiosity. It’s a window of time that goes by quickly, and capturing it allows families to freeze those precious in-between moments before crawling and walking begin.
This baby boy had the most joyful energy! From gummy grins to curious wonderings about the adorably miniature (baby-friendly) props curated our Silverlake team, he made full use of the set, and brought the whole summer scene to life.
A Family Story Told Through Scenes and Styling
One of our favorite parts of this Silverlake session was how intentional the parents were about celebrating both sides of their son’s cultural background. Mom, who grew up in Minnesota, envisioned a Fourth of July scene that captured her own upbringing: lake life, backyard grilling, and carefree summer days. Dad’s Cuban heritage inspired the second look, a completely custom set styled to feel like an afternoon in Old Havana.
For the Havana vignette, we dressed baby in a traditional cream guayabera and straw fedora, and styled a street café scene with hand-painted pastries, a tiny espresso cup, and dominoes. The backdrop’s colorful buildings and hanging lights instantly transported us. This part of the shoot was a tribute to Cuban culture in the most adorable way possible.
Denim, Love, and Family Laughs
To complete the session, our Silverlake team invited the full family in for portraits. Coordinated in denim and neutral tones, this stylish crew radiated warmth and connection. Big sister was full of playful energy in her tutu and denim vest, and Mom and Dad beamed with the kind of love that is both quiet and undeniable. We focused on keeping the poses relaxed and natural, capturing the real smiles and sweet interactions that make each family unique.
