We love it when clients have creative ideas for their photos shoots – and this family had no shortage of great ones for their maternity session!
We met this lovely couple a few years ago when they had their first little girl, and we captured her very sweet newborn photos. Now it was time for baby number two, and this mama wanted to share the news with a fun “gender reveal” photo session. We met a few weeks before the session to brainstorm on ideas together, and we just kept coming back to the idea of using blue cotton candy to announce the pregnancy news and sex of the baby. We also wanted an angelic, urban vibe to the images – so we styled “soon to be big sister” in some funky blinged out Chucks and our purple tutu. We paired all of these with our urban brick background and flooded the scene with our famous “Pod Glow” light.
My favorite little detail of the photo session is mom’s belt. The subtle bling that ties in her daughter’s shoes as well as gives her belly some shape (since she was less than 6 months pregnant at the shoot) brings everything together! We love belly bands and have several at the studio for our clients to use during their maternity photos.
